"Indonesian Girl” is a beautiful clay sculpture of a very small, petite Oriental model, who sat for me at The Phoenix Studio, in Oxfordshire (The Phoenix Studio: Art courses for all - Phoenix Studio) about 3 years ago. Instead of a full body sculpture, I chose to concentrate on modelling her head, as her expression was so serene and characterful. I loved working with her and I’m really pleased with the end result. When I initially finished her, she somehow reminded me of a painting from my childhood which made me want to keep her, so she has occupied a corner of my dining room ever since.
But, when curating my work for this show, I decided it’s now time to part company with my Indonesian Girl. I have enjoyed having her in my life for the last 3 years and I’ve grown very fond of her. Hopefully she’ll find a nice new home somewhere, and give somebody else as much pleasure as she gave me!
