Body and Soul brought to life

Saturday 15th April was a milestone day for The Turrill Sculpture Garden. We combined the Private View opening of our month-long exhibition “Body and Soul” featuring the work of 11 clay modelling sculptors of The Sunningwell School of Art (Sunningwell School of Art (artschool.org.uk), with the ribbon cutting grand opening of our superb new gazebo!

We were honoured to welcome Lord Mayor Councillor James Fry and the Chair of the County Council, Councillor Susannah Pressel to our gathering, who opened up the gazebo with a flourish of scissors. Roger Perkins, local professional sculptor and founder of one of our collaborative partners Art Sauce (art-sauce.org), was invited by the Lifers Sculpture Group to say a few words to open their exhibition

The exhibition features figurative sculptures by the group, all created during the 10-week terms at Sunningwell. Local models pose for the group that creates busts as well as nude and abstract figures, which they have contributed to form this lovely showpiece of their skills.

There’s still a week to go until the “Body and Soul” show comes to an end, so please visit the garden and enjoy the excellent figures, brought to you by the Lifers Group.
