Introducing Ian Marlow

We’re delighted to welcome Ian as our sculptor for the current Light and Shade exhibition at The Turrill Sculpture Garden. This is Somerset-based Ian’s second time exhibiting at The Turrill and he presents us with some wonderful statement pieces.

Upon entering the garden, you are struck by his stainless steel creations' scale and illumining effect. They contrast delightfully with the calm dark greens and splashes of colour that make The Turrill such a pleasing backdrop for beautiful art such as Ian’s.

A visit to Ian’s website Ian Marlow Sculptor reveals a broad range of charming sculptures that could be found a home in many different styles and sizes of gardens. Despite the relatively large scale of some of the pieces, they would still not look out of place even in smaller urban gardens as a show-stopping centrepiece. Drawing from his environment, and childhood memories of walks in the country, Ian declares his passion for nature with graceful abstracts as well as stunning figurative designs and some very colourful fusions of steel and glass.

Here we present a few images from Ian’s website, of pieces that are not included in the current show behind the Summertown library. They perfectly illustrate his ability to add personality and character to a space, in an imaginative and contemporary style.

Our introduction to his work with the pieces on display in the garden will hopefully lead you to discover more about Ian and his fascinating work.

Light and Shade runs until June 25th
