Private View – “Frameworks” Saturday 23rd September

We were delighted to welcome Sara Myers, the sculptor behind our new solo exhibition, “Frameworks” to The Turrill Sculpture Garden at the weekend. Launching her show with a Private Viewing, on what turned out to be a beautiful Autumn afternoon, Sara was rightly the centre of attention as dozens of guests came to share

the occasion; but actually it’s her art that stole the show. Several stunning pieces, placed around the garden, beckoned visitors to explore.

Sara uses many different materials for her busts and torsos, including jesmonite, which, she explains, is a British invention, combining marble dust, gypsum, and water-based acrylic resin, that is not only extremely versatile, but is a lot safer and more sustainable than alternatives like bronze resin, fibreglass, polyester, plaster or concrete. The results are striking. Many of the pieces in the show are limited editions from casts, and some are one-offs. All are exquisite.

Each one holds a story, as Sara explores the ideas of frames and the framework of ideas. Every one provoking thoughts, questions and ultimately emotions. From strikingly realistic portraits, to metamorphosing souls, the show is a triumph of Sara’s imagination, creativity and skill – a must see!

Frameworks runs until 11th November
